Paul sure took advantage of every opportunity to share the gospel. Even though he had been held on false charges for several years, when he stands before the king, his primary aim is not for his own release through gaining the king’s favor, or to “ingratiate himself with the authorities", but for the king’s conversion.
Paul had a plan as a missionary and years in prison was not part of it. Yet he didn’t lose sight of his purpose as a missionary, and still preached the gospel wherever he happened to be. When our lives are thrown off course – maybe for years – will we be able to trust God’s plan and that he would give us “words and wisdom” in any situation?

Paul is such a powerful witness to the grace of God to save and transform a sinner into a saint. Paul is a model example of what it means to live with a single purpose and passion for the glory of God. Paul is one of my heroes, not because I'm like him, but because I would like to be like him in my life and witness.

thanks for an excellent reflection. paul's life was a wonderful reminder of the way we ought to live. everyday there are a myriad of opportunities (some not so easy to see) that we can bear witness and testimony to Jesus Christ.
paul took advantage of "those myriad of opportunities" and was faithful to his calling to be a witness to the risen Christ, wherever he happened to be. the Lord honored that and gave him "success in whatever he did".
we often don't take advantage of the same opportunities in our own lives, and we win very few, if any, people to the kingdom.
we bear such little fruit because we sow such "little seed". this singular principle of God's kingdom (reaping and sowing) is always proven right, both in paul's life, and in our own.
