‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.’ Luke 1:35
Well, first of all, the title doesn’t make sense to me at all. I don’t know about you, but I can’t figure how a virgin can give birth to a child. If a woman can conceive a child without a guy, there is no use for a man at all. God chose a woman to have The Holy One, because I think that women are smarter, stronger (because they’re smart, they don’t really need to use their physical strength), sensitive, oh! beautiful… on and on, don’t you guys agree with me? (wink). I started to think about what this means--Jesus being the Son of God, both human and divine.
Mary was chosen by God to have a child named Jesus, and she gave birth to a son. And I believe that just like any other mother, Jesus will be in Mary’s heart forever, even after giving the birth. This gave me a clue, that even we can’t bear a holy child like Mary; we can have Jesus in our heart. God chose Mary, so that Jesus would inherit both His humanity and His title to the messianic kingdom. He humbled himself to experience our full humanity, and gave his blood to overshadow us. So we can be called his child, when we have Jesus in our heart, and truly believe in it.

thanks for the post DH.
I liked what you said about Mary and how we could relate to her by having Jesus in our hearts.
the good thing that i took from this post was that just like God chose Mary, I also feel that God chose us as well which shows us how merciful and loving He is.
Thanks Daehyun for your reflection. I liked the way you started your reflection with a question concerning the virgin birth of Jesus. I mean, how could the Son of God, take upon human nature and yet retain his divine properties? Isn't being both human and divine like mixing water and oil -- it can't be done, right? I suppose that is why this is called a "miracle" – there is no natural explanation. The Holy Spirit replaced the "human father". And while we can't comprehend this mystery, yet at the heart of the Christian faith is the fact that, God the second person of the Trinity came, not only to identify with us but also to be the sinless Savior. And this, I think is the key reason why the virgin birth is important... it establishes the "sinless" credential of Jesus, which is necessary if he is to be our Savior and the Sacrifice for our sins. There’s a lot to think about here and to praise God for his infinite condescension.

I really appreciate your comment on Mary's perspective which made me think about her humility, obedience and true appreciation of God's blessing to her and mankind.
I will also remember to share your comments on the superiority of females with any single-women that might be a good match for you!
