Genesis 1:26, 28

As I was meditating on the word today, I was reminded of our responsibility and obligation as a human being to take care of God's creation. We often seclude ourselves from the bigger world and leave the environmental concerns and problems to the activists and politicians. I am very guilty of that..... Perhaps we are overwhelmed and even paralyzed by the fact that the problems are too big for us to solve and, in result we ignore or neglect the problems we see.

However, according to His Word, God created the universe and commended us to rule over it. Ruling God's creation does not mean that we can do whatever we want with it. But we should be responsible to take care of it and maintain it well so that ,from generation to generation, people will enjoy His creation and praise Him for who He is.

When we pick up a empty bottle laying on a street and throw it in a garbage can, we are actually giving God the glory by obeying His Word. " So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the Glory of God." 1Corinthians 10: 31

We are grateful that we serve God who pays attention on little things that we do for him and others and return with abundant blessings. Let's look outside of our houses today. Let's praise Him for this beautiful snow that He created cover up branches of our trees and our yard so beautifully Let's lift a little prayer to ask God to give us a deeper appreciation on the beauty of his work and conviction to take a good care of it.

For your information Kwijung did her reflection from week 1 of John Stott's Through the Bible, rather than week 16. I believe this was my mistake in not explaining this more clearly. Just remember that were on Week 16, Images of the Messiah.

I appreciate this reflection because it's an important issue in our society today. Most us do not see our responsibility in taking care of the environment, or perhaps as Kwijung rightly pointed out, "we are overwhelmed and even paralyzed by the fact that the problems are too big for us to solve." It's true that the problem is too big for any one person to solve, which is why we need to voice our opinions to our politicans and leaders of our concerns -- to make laws and rules to limit the expolitation of the environment, including finding alternative source of energy other than fossil fuel. So get informed and maybe even involved politically on these issues.

But we also need to individually be conscious of our consumption habits which contributes to the environmental problems. How many of us throw away so much waste? I'm appalled every monday night as I collect all the garbage I have to throw away the next day. Being a good steward of God's green earth includes, as far as we are able, using less water, less energy, using environmentally friendly products and not buying SUV and other gas guzzling cars unless you have very good reasons for doing so.

I think we should all join Kwijung in giving our God praise for the great material blessings we enjoy here in this country. And yes that includes the beauty of winter -- including the cold temperature! This is not a Canadian thing either. But we also need to take practical steps like praying to God and asking him to help us to live more simply, by being dependent on less "things". I suppose on this issue, we all need to repent and pray that God would make us better stewards. So let's do that!

Do you guys know his hymn?

"This is My Father's World"

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.

Many times we depend on our own judgement, accoring to its condition. And we grow up all our years making right judgement for our life to be close to perfact. I guess along the way we need guidence. Guidence from who lived perfact life, not from who trid many different things or who knows what is to be perfact, but couldn't live it. I'm thankful that there is a person who lived perfact life who can guide us.....just sometime I still depend on my own judgement.
